Abramovich is happy with the way Mourinho has improved the team over the last 18 months and kept his transfer dealings inside Financial Fair Play guidelines.
Mourinho signed a four-year deal when he returned for his second spell in the summer of 2013, but the club want to bump up his money and extend that contract for another two years.
As well as his success on the pitch it is a reward for his transfer policy, which has seen Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas arrive in major deals while big profits were made on the sales of players like David Luiz, Romelu Lukaku, Andre Schurrle, Kevin De Bruyne and Juan Mata.
